Tech Write UK were approached by Fabrizio Bartolomucci, Lead Developer of the Virtual Tags iPhone app with a view to producing a press release to publicise the release of version 2 of the augmented reality geotagging application. Despite speaking four european languages to a high level, Bartolomucci chose to use a native English speaker to write and distribute the required press release to ensure that the Virtual Tags app received the best possible media coverage in the UK, America and Australia.
Using a description of the new functionality and some direct quotes from Bartolomucci, the press release has been designed to highlight the benefits of the updated application without sounding too much like a blatant advertisement, even quoting Karl Marx at one point! The press release was then posted to online news sites such as PRLog.org and emailed to editors of major iPhone app magazines and blogs. You can see the opening paragraph of the press release below, or read it in its entirety here
Italian iOS app developer Fabrizio Bartolomucci has announced version 2.0 of his Augmented Reality app, Virtual Tags incorporating a number of new social networking features. Similar to other geotagging apps, Virtual Tags allows users to create messages, known as clouds, based on their physical location which are then shared with other Virtual Tag users. These geotags are displayed on the screen of their iPhone Touch or iPhone or iPad as an overlay of the user’s physical environment, giving a real-time view of previous visitors to that location.
Another press release written for Junari to advertise not only their junariCRM Customer Relationship Management software system, but also to publicise the company’s stand at the Bury St Edmunds B2B Fair. Junari were also keen to publicise the debut of their Augmented Reality solution for the iPhone which had been developed in conjunction with 3D modelling agency CG Eye. As appears to be the case with many regional trade shows, the actual promoters put less effort into publicising the venture leading many attendees to assume Junari were sponsoring the event!
The full press release is available on the PRLog news website.

What follows is another press release publicising a new partnership between Junari and a local 3D modelling company with a view to developing an augmented reality iPhone app.
Following continued business success, Junari have teamed with CG Eye to develop and market iPhone applications
Building on CG Eye’s experience in 3D modelling and Junari’s expertise in software development, the newly formed partnership, known as 3D On, will produce and market innovative applications for the Apple iPhone platform. The phenomenal success of the App Store combined with the computing capabilities of the iPhone has seen an explosion in mobile applications limited only by the creativity of software developers.
Said Steve Austin, Managing Director of Junari, “Our partnership with CG Eye and the incorporation of 3D On promises to be one of the most exciting developments in our company’s history. We have several unique iPhone apps currently in development which will further revolutionise the smartphone market. Junari’s development know-how, when coupled with the creativity of CG Eye promises to make 3D On a new force in the smartphone application development arena.”
Despite there being over 185,000 applications for download from Apple, very few app developers are based in East Anglia. In addition to developing their own applications, 3D On intend to offer bespoke app development services to businesses in the region.
The first app release by 3D On is currently scheduled for the end of Spring 2010 and will be available for download from the Apple App Store following completion of testing. Further details will be made available on the 3D On website as the project progresses.
