Press Release – Virtual Tags Introduces Augmented Reality Avatars in Version 2

Tech Write UK were approached by Fabrizio Bartolomucci, Lead Developer of the  Virtual Tags iPhone app with a view to producing a press release to publicise the release of version 2 of the augmented reality geotagging application. Despite speaking four european languages to a high level, Bartolomucci chose to use a native English speaker to write and distribute the required press release to ensure that the Virtual Tags app received the best possible media coverage in the UK, America and Australia.

Using a description of the new functionality and some direct quotes from Bartolomucci, the press release has been designed to highlight the benefits of the updated application without sounding too much like a blatant advertisement, even quoting Karl Marx at one point! The press release was then posted to online news sites such as PRLog.org and emailed to editors of major iPhone app magazines and blogs. You can see the opening paragraph of the press release below, or read it in its entirety here

Geotagging iOS app update blurs boundaries between worlds by introducing augmented reality avatars to share location-based information.

Italian iOS app developer Fabrizio Bartolomucci has announced version 2.0 of his Augmented Reality app, Virtual Tags incorporating a number of new social networking features. Similar to other geotagging apps, Virtual Tags allows users to create messages, known as clouds, based on their physical location which are then shared with other Virtual Tag users. These geotags are displayed on the screen of their iPhone Touch or iPhone or iPad as an overlay of the user’s physical environment, giving a real-time view of previous visitors to that location.
