Press Release – Finding A Purpose With The Purpose Driven Life
Finding A Purpose With The Purpose Driven Life
Local Heybridge Church begins a 5 week investigation into the purpose of life.
Ben Lloyd, who will be leading the course said, “Some of the biggest questions humans have been asking themselves since the dawn of time have been ‘What am I doing here? What is life all about?’. People inside and outside church ask the same questions, so we are going to look into the issue for ourselves. According to the promise attached to ‘The Purpose Driven Life’ book, at the end of 40 days, every reader will know what the purpose of their life is. The author, Rick Warren, has made a very bold claim which we are going to put to the test!”
The course will run over five consecutive Wednesday nights and is intended to be an open discussion where attendees can discuss their own thoughts and feelings as they read through the book. The course is open to people of any or no faith and is free of charge.
“We welcome anyone to come along and join with us during the course,” said Ben, “Regardless of faith or background, having a purpose in life is important. We want the course to be a frank exchange of thoughts and experiences from which we can all learn, so we would really like to meet with anyone interested in knowing more on Wednesday night.”
Having sold over 30 million copies, ‘The Purpose Driven Life’ is one of the best-selling books of all time. Written in 40 very short installments, ‘The Purpose Driven Life’ has been designed to encourage thought and debate among readers as they search for answers to their own biggest questions.

Minibus Stolen from Heybridge Church
Theft of minibus from church deprives the local community of Heybridge
Local church Christian Outreach Centre Heybridge is reeling from the shock of losing their newly acquired community minibus to thieves. The vehicle was taken from the church property on Broad Street Green in Heybridge some time on Monday 16th May. Police later found the minibus burnt out in a field off London Road outside Maldon.
Said Ted Mint, Senior Pastor at Christian Outreach Centre Heybridge, ‘We are very disappointed to have lost the minibus, most of all because it has been totally destroyed. We have only had the bus for a matter of months and had recently finished some restorative work so that we could begin a number of community programs. This theft has totally wrecked those plans as we cannot afford to replace the vehicle.’
The stolen minibus had a long history of community-based work, having seen service at a school and a local scout troop before coming into the possession of Christian Outreach Centre Heybridge. The church had most recently used the minibus to transport members to a ladies conference on the South Coast, only returning two days before it was stolen.
The minibus was taken from the church car park in Heybridge and driven to a field along London Road between Maldon and Woodham Walter before having several key components such as the radiator and battery removed. The thieves then set fire to the minibus completely destroying what was left of the vehicle. Firemen attending the scene noted that the fire had been so severe that the even the colour of paint had been rendered unrecognizable by the blaze.
Maldon Police have confirmed they are not actively investigating the theft of the minibus, but still welcome any information from the public who may have seen a red Ford Transit minibus around Heybridge or London Road, Maldon on Monday 16th May.

Press Release – Last Meeting At Maldon Friary for COC Heybridge
After eight years, Christian Outreach Centre Heybridge and Maldon will be leaving their Sunday morning base at the Friary and returning to their church building in Heybridge. A generous gift of land has allowed COC Heybridge to expand their parking at the building on Broad Street Green and the decision has therefore been taken to move all services back to the building.
Said Pastor Ted Mint, “The Friary has served us well as a meeting venue for the past eight years but we feel the time has come to return to our building in Heybridge. The recent gift of land has allowed us to secure the Heybridge property making it safer for all the members of our church as well as providing scope to increase the buildings and services we offer to our local community. We are somewhat sad to be leaving Maldon town centre but we are equally excited by the opportunities our new land offer our church and our community.”
Maldon Friary is owned and maintained by Essex County Council as an Adult Community College. Christian Outreach Centre Heybridge have been using the hall at the Friary for Sunday meetings since 2002.
The final meeting at the Friary takes place this Sunday, 29th August 2010, at 10.30am. The first meeting back at the church building in Heybridge will take place on Sunday 5th September at 10.30am. As with all COC services, anyone is welcome to come along.
